RIPARIAN MOVEMENTS
Three Movements
My practice begins outdoors as I explore, absorb and align with the gentle vibratory movements of natural elements (currently along the Bow and Elbow Rivers and in reconstructed urban wetlands). I document the locus of these vibrations through plein air painting (Notes on Current) and video, embodying, processing and performing the riparian movements produced by the convergence of the water/earth elements as they affect me. The practice becomes a series of iterations through which I learn more about myself, the land I am intimately connected to, and the subtle relations between us. As I document the locus of these vibrations, it is my goal to enter into a non-hierarchical relationship with my surrounding environment, and align myself with the vibratory resonance of natural elements.
